Information About Model Horse Pedigrees
This page just contains a little bit of information aimed at newcomers to the hobby or non-model horse folk who have found this website confusing.
Pedigree Assignment is referred to as PA.
Question: What is the whole point? These aren't real horses!
Answer: The model horse hobby is very popular all over the world, and is enjoyed by young and old, people who can't own a real horse and people who simply love and admire these beautiful models as well as the real thing. Model horses can be shown and competed with in both 'live' shows and 'photo' shows, just like real horses, in all disciplines and in halter classes. The point of PA is to add another level of realism to the hobby and provides hours of entertainment for those who choose to do it. It gives people the opportunity to own a champion horse with a winning pedigree when they otherwise could not and to learn about horse breeds, colours and genetics.
Question: What profits do you make, and why do you use real horses?
Answer: Absolutely no profit is made by offering breeding services, it is all completely free. Real horses are sometimes used in our pedigrees, but no harm at all is intended. It is purely for hobby purposes - entertainment and education. If you are someone who has found their real horse used somewhere in a model horse pedigree, and even after learning more about what we do wishes to have it removed please simply contact the person who made the pedigree and ask nicely if they would please change it. We never intend to cause any harm with what we do.
If you want to find out more, I've listed some valuable links to further information below. (I do not own/take credit for these.)
